Privacy policy

Chamberlin Enterprises ("Chamberlin Enterprises," "we," "us") is David Chamberlin’s company, run by Chamberlin Enterprises LLC in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Each of our ventures, like Chamberlin Studio or David’s School, has its own website and its own privacy policy. This policy covers chamberlinenterprises.com and the emails that come from it. It explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

The short version

• The only thing we ask for is your email address, so we can email you when David launches something new.
• We never sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
• Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and you can change your mind any time.
• Every email we send has a way to leave the list, and leaving takes one click.
• You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information by emailing us.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you join the list, we collect your email address. With it we save the date and time you joined and the sentence you agreed to, so we have a record of your permission. When you book a meeting on our booking page at book.chamberlinenterprises.com, it collects your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the time you pick, and any notes you add. When you email or call us, we have whatever you choose to share.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site receives basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page you came from, and the date and time. When you join the list we also save the page you joined from, including any campaign tags in its link (like "utm_source=instagram"), and the website that sent you, if there was one, so we know how people find us. A security check looks at signals from your browser to tell people apart from spam bots, and your IP address is held briefly in this website’s server memory to stop repeated tries. When you join, the site also sends your IP address and browser type to Team, the Chamberlin Studio system that keeps the list. Team saves neither one. It keeps only a scrambled code made from your IP address (a salted hash), in a record separate from your email address, uses it to limit repeated sign-ups from one connection, and deletes it after 24 hours. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also records how you use the site, described under Cookies and your choices below.

Information we do not ask for. Outside of booking a meeting, we do not ask for your name, phone number, address, payment details, or any sensitive information, and there are no accounts on this site. Please do not send sensitive information by email.

How we use it

• To email you when David launches something new, and to send occasional news.
• To set up and hold the meetings you book, and to reach you about them.
• To know how many people are on the list and how they heard about us.
• To keep the website secure and stop spam, fake sign-ups, and abuse.
• To understand how the site is used and make it better, if you accept analytics cookies.
• To answer your emails, keep records, meet legal requirements, and handle disputes.

Our spam screen automatically turns away sign-ups that look like bots, use a throwaway email service, or use an email domain that cannot receive mail. We do not use your information to make any other automated decisions about you, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom: we use your email address because you asked to join the list (your consent), and we use technical information to keep the site secure (our legitimate interest in protecting it). You can withdraw your consent any time by leaving the list.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser, and similar tools save information in your browser’s storage. We use them in two groups:

Strictly necessary. These are always on, because the site needs them to work. A security check from our host, Vercel, runs when you join the list to stop spam. Your browser also remembers your cookie preferences for 12 months.

Analytics, only if you accept. Google Analytics counts visits, the pages people view, and sign-ups, so we can see what helps and improve the site. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which last up to 13 months. It does not tell us who you are, advertising features are turned off, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. If you reject analytics or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).

When you first visit, you can accept all, reject all, or manage your preferences, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your preferences any time with Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of every page, or by clearing your browser’s cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as reject all.

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for it, so the site does not respond to it, but Global Privacy Control works as described.

How we share it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only in these ways:

• Companies that help us run the website, only so they can do that work for us: Vercel (hosting and security checks), Supabase (the databases that hold the email list and meeting bookings), Resend (email delivery: it sends David a short notice with your email address when you join, and it may send list emails), and Google (Calendar and Meet, for meetings you book), and Google, for analytics if you accept it.
• Chamberlin Studio (formerly Chamberlin Design), our own web studio, which builds and looks after the website.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our visitors, our team, or others.
• If Chamberlin Enterprises or one of its businesses changes hands, the list would move to the new owner, who would have to honor this policy.

Emails and text messages

Joining the list means we will email you when David launches something new, and we may send occasional news about our ventures. We will not send you messages from other companies. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also reply or write to us to be removed. Leaving the list never costs anything.

This site does not ask for phone numbers. If you give one when you book a meeting, we use it only to call or text you about that meeting, and we never send marketing text messages.

How long we keep it

• Your email address and sign-up details: until you leave the list or we close it. When you leave, we delete your sign-up, and we may keep just your email address on a do-not-email list so we never email you again by mistake.
• The notice David gets when you join: kept with his ordinary business email.
• Meeting bookings: as long as we need them to hold the meeting and keep business records.
• Emails you send us: as long as we need them to help you, and as long as record keeping requires.
• Spam check details: this website’s server holds your IP address in memory only briefly and does not save it. The scrambled code Team makes from it is deleted after 24 hours.
• Website logs: our host keeps short technical logs for security and troubleshooting, then deletes them.
• Analytics: cookies last up to 13 months, and Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for no more than 14 months.
• Your cookie choice: 12 months, then the site asks again.

How we protect it

The site uses encryption (HTTPS) for everything you send. The email list is kept in a secured database that only our team and this website’s own private key can reach, and the companies we work with keep their own security programs. No website or email system can be completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information by email. If a security breach ever affects your information, we will tell you as Michigan law requires.

Your choices and rights

• Ask to see the personal information we have about you, or get a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
• Ask us to delete your information, or leave the list with the link in any email we send.
• Turn analytics cookies on or off any time with Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of every page.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you more rights, such as the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, targeted advertising, or profiling, or to complain to a data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and we honor requests to see, correct, or delete information from everyone, wherever they live.

To make a request, email david@chamberlinenterprises.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on the list, so we know it is really you, and someone you authorize may ask for you. We respond within 45 days, and if we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why and you can ask us to reconsider. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

This website is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has joined the list, email us and we will delete it.

Other websites and visitors outside the U.S.

The site links to other websites, such as our ventures’ own sites and our booking page. We are not responsible for how other sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies. Chamberlin Enterprises is based in the United States, and information you send us is stored and handled in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least once a year and whenever our practices change, for example if this website adds accounts or payments. We will post any update here with a new date at the top, and for important changes we will also put a notice on the website, or email the list, before they take effect.
